Celebrating with less waste doesn't have to mean less fun. We searched the Australian blogosphere to find you some real life inspiration for creative, meaningful approaches to a more thoughtful festive season:

Meagan from This Whole Family has created special traditions like trips to the Christmas Tree farm, and her family has collected and created their own decorations made from recycled materials. In the lead up to Christmas the family celebrated giving by choosing toys to give to the less fortunate, and even picked an Oxfam gift together.

In the giving spirit, Clare from Small Steps for Sustainability has initiated a new family custom - giving in preparation for receiving. Excess books, baby clothes and toys found new homes. A lovely time for other special milestones too like Birthdays!

Keep an eye out for more inspiring real life ideas in our waste-wise countdown! In the mean time, check out the 12 Do's of Christmas and how to get your friends and family  DOing good too.
